World renowned for its brilliant nightlife, addictive accent and friendly residents, Newcastle is one of the UK’s most visited cities.
There truly is something for everyone in Newcastle and there is no shortage of things to do, which can make a trip here rather exhausting at times.
So, if you are someone who loves to sit back and chill out with a great cup of coffee, look no further. We have put together a list of our favourite coffee spots to help you relax and unwind, all while supporting independent hospitality.
Ouseburn Coffee Co:
First established in 2012 in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley, Ouseburn Coffee Co are a fairly small band of passionate coffee roasters and baristas dedicated to serving the city with amazing coffee.
They roast their beans with passion in small batches to provide their customers with fresh seasonal produce of the highest quality.
You can find Ouseburn Coffee Co’s products both by the bag and by the cup at various locations across the city including The Harvest in Jesmond and Fenwick Food Hall on Northumberland Street. As well as stalls at the popular Quayside and Tynemouth markets on a weekend.

Pink Lane Coffee:
Pink Lane values transparency from seed to cup, expressing their values by ensuring they purchase seasonal specialty green coffees from small, ethical producers.
Everything they serve to customers is selected with terroir and natural flavour in mind, making sure to roast their coffee carefully and with a light touch to encourage the natural characteristics of each coffee to shine through.
Located in a prime city centre location, Pink Lane is perfect for your morning coffee or a relaxing afternoon tipple.

Camber Coffee:
Located behind a gym and fitness store on Market Street, this hidden gem is definitely one to seek out.
Coming somewhere halfway between minimalist and cosy, this laidback coffee joint is perfect for a bit of peace and sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
Their simple coffee menu focuses mainly on espresso drinks, while their food menu is made up entirely of vegetarian and vegan food.
Camber also sources their beans from Pilgrims Coffee on Holy Island not too far from the city, and their food is all from local providers.
If you like a spacious cafe with a laid back atmosphere and friendly staff, this is definitely one to stop by.

Laneway and co:
As you may have noticed, Newcastle has a lot of hidden gems, and Laneway and co is no exception.
Nestled away on a cobbled street along with a number of other independent shops and restaurants is this stylish white wooded coffee shop that is definitely insta ready!
Before anything, however, Laneway put good quality coffee at the forefront of everything they do.
This cafe serves single origin coffee from London’s Square Mile coffee roasters, and ensures that they change their beans seasonally to put the world’s best coffees on show from as far as Malawi and Somalia.
If you fancy a bite, they also serve a wide range of top quality cakes, pastries and assorted breakfast options. Making this the perfect hideaway whether you stay for half an hour, or half the day.

Flat Caps Coffee
If you like a cosy cafe, look no further than Flat Caps. Located away from the busy parts of town, the vibes of this place are hard to match.
Presenting a warm, friendly atmosphere, it is easy to see the appeal and why so many people get sucked into this place. But once you’re inside, you’ll be sucked right in yourself.
Serving coffee both by the cup and by the bag, Flat Caps offer a five star menu from excellent espressos to mouth watering food that is vegan, vegetarian AND gluten-free friendly. They also offer alcohol if you’re looking for somewhere to take you from day to night
